Red Dog Festival Relay...

Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May 2015 / The Pilbara:

The 2014 Red Dog Festival Relay is a fun, active, adventure-packed team event over two days that charts a picturesque course from Dampier to Karratha out to Millstream Chichester National Park and return. The relay has eight legs: run, bus, 4WD, mountain bike, cross country walk, swim, road bike and paddle. Mandatory Event Briefing for participants and support crew will be held in Karratha just prior to the event. The relay is a team event, with a minimum of four and maximum six participants in each team. Early Bird discount is available until 17 March 2014. Team registrations close on 5 May 2014.

Teams can choose which members compete in each leg, but must field a minimum of one team member in the bus, two team members in the swim, mountain bike and walk legs, three team members in the run and 4WD legs and four in the road bike, paddle leg. The swim, mountain bike and paddle legs will be divided into 2 sections and the run and 4WD legs will be divided into 3 sections. The road bike leg will be on the bitumen section of Mt Tom Price road from Python Pool turnoff riding west to Dampier with 4 sections. The walk leg in the Millstream National Park will have two team members walking together. The changeover of each section will be at a transition point and team members will wear a timing bracelet at all times. Team support vehicles will transport the team participants to the next changeover location ready for the next transition.

Each Relay leg will be electronically timed to decide the placings for each Team. Each place will be awarded points, first place maximum and last place the minimum points determined by the number of Teams in the Relay. The overall winner of the Red Dog Festival Relay will be determined by the aggregate points for all 8 legs therefore providing equal weighting for each Relay leg.

Teams must provide their own road bike, mountain bike and 4WD plus the necessary kit for the swim, run and walk legs. The bus and kayaks will be supplied by the organisers.Support crew. Each team of four and the equipment should be able to get around the course in one 4WD vehicle. Teams have the option of including a separate support crew vehicle if team size is bigger. Camp sites for visiting teams are available in Karratha (Friday night), Millstream (Saturday night) and Dampier (Sunday night) and fees are included in team registration. All teams are to bring their own camping gear.
